Oh My Lord - these next few chapters are incredibly, mind-blowingly, heart-breakingly dramatic and important.

•Chapter 24 - I Did It•
•Kai•
I sat and seethed. Silently.
Ammi sat on the sofa beside Lord Death, me opposite them. Three cups of coffee sat untouched on the table between us, Ammi feeling the need to clear her throat and break the unbearable silence.
"Coffee?" She asked, gesturing to the steaming cup in front of Lord Death.
"No thank you dear, it gives me trapped wind" he replied with seriousness.
I was cracking up. Sniggering and holding back pain-inducing laughter.
"This matter is no joke, young Kai-San" he snapped at me, causing my laughter to come to an abrupt end.
"This will be your fourth suspension this year. I have every right to expel you from the Death Weapon Meister Academy" he continued on, white mask hiding emotion, yet tone showing extreme frustration with me.
"Lord Death, please don't-" Ammi stuttered.
"It was all my fault. Kai was going to go today. But I was selfish..." She trailed off as she confessed to Lord Death. The guilt was layered on her pretty face.
"I wanted him to stay home... With me" she finally finished, staring down at the coffee in front of her. She was lost in the swirling clouds of steam rising from the boiling liquid, tears of guilt almost beginning to run down her cheeks.
"Ah. I see Miss Lockheart. So, the reason you've missed so much school recently, I heard it was a sharp pain in your lower leg? Might I ask how you got the injury?" Lord Death queried.
Fuck. Shit. Oh no. I didn't tell Ammi what I'd been telling Lord Death the whole time she was off.
"I-I um... I just..".
There was no way for me to tell her. We were right in front of him. I couldn't ask for a moment alone with her, he'd know something was up, and would suspend me before we could step outside.
All i could do was hope that our minds worked the same way.
"I fell over.. Nolan".
I'm screwed.
"Did you now? That's odd, you see, because Kai-San told me you fell violently down the stairs".
The look on Ammi's face was pure panic. She was freaking out. She didn't know what to say, how to patch that little mistake up, and neither did I.
So I decided I couldn't lie anymore. It was hurting me. Hurting Ammi. That was something I wouldn't allow - not anymore.
"That's it" I said, my eyes caverns of deep thought.
"I can't lie anymore".
Ammi looked as if she might just explode in sheer shock and panic.
"Kai, I know what you're about to do, and I am begging you not to do it" she shook her head violently as she tried to persuade me to keep my mouth shut. Nothing she said would change my mind. Not now. My decision had been made long ago.
"I did it" I confessed, staring deep into Lord Death's eyes.
Ammi was breaking down into hysterical years. I had to ignore it, for both of our sakes.
"You did.. What?" Lord Death asked, suddenly deeply interested.
"Kai stop it, please don't say any more!" Ammi pleaded through the flood of tears running down her cheeks.
"I ruined Ammi's leg. I stamped on it... When I was trying to kill her".
Lord Death was stunned.
"He's lying! He's lying!" Ammi wailed over and over. Lord Death and I ignored her. We both knew I was telling the exact truth.
"Kai-San Tucker, Ammi Lockheart, I have no choice but to break your partnership as Weapon and Meister".
Hatred rushed over my body, flowed through my veins. I felt the Assassin Instinct take over me. I wanted to kill - him.
But the unthinkable begun to happen before I had my chance. As I watched Ammi, something seemed off. She began pulling at her hair as she screamed words that made no sense, and writhing and spasming. It was as if she was going insane.
