I stand upon the edge of knowing,
The possibilities vast and wide.
Outside it still is softly snowing,
Hillsides draped in gauzy white.
Another year is fast receding
Into winter's frozen time.
The troubles that had left us bleeding
Dull their teeth within our minds.
Soon the spring will green anew,
Thawing out our bones and blood,
Raising hopes for plans abrew.
Running sap turns to a flood.
Now's the time for thinking grand,
Shaking trees and making moves.
Opportunity's at hand,
Time to carve some different grooves.
But first we settle into rest,
Reflect on all that's come to pass,
Allow intent to coalesce
As icy blankets hold us fast.
