A moonlight serenade is something I could never do
Nor romantic dinner 'cos I'm skint, can't pay for two
I can't buy you new outfits, I'm banned from all the shops
'Cos when I try to pay for them my credit card just stops
They say the way to woman's heart is to make 'em laugh
But you've heard my jokes before and they're too crude by half
How about some jewellery? Then again, maybe not
I'll probably only get a piece that you've already got
Let's keep it nice and simple. Let's go for a drink
But I get drunk too easily, it'll only cause a stink
There is one thing that I can do, I can write a rhyme
I think I'll do a piece for you that'll stand the test of time
And I'll finish off my serenade with words that ring so true
I'll go out with a flourish -
I Love You
