Heart Of Gold

Now here's a story that should be told,
She's a darling said the young and old,
She's got a winning smile and a heart of gold,
But that's before the madness took a hold.

The street was silent, not a sound,
You could hear her footsteps on the ground,
The devil said do it, no one's around,
And if you run away you'll never be found.

Now here's a story that should be told,
She's a monster said the young and old,
She's got a wicked smile and a heart of mould,
Where was the winning smile, the heart of gold?

When the policemen found her he was dead,
You could tell by the stab marks in his head,
She sat unblinking covered in red,
Wishing that she'd listened to the angel instead.

Now here's a story that should be told,
She's a murder said the young and old,
She's got the devil's smile and no heart to hold,
What happened to the winning smile, the heart of gold?

They went to her cell and herself she had hung,
She was feeling kind of guilty about the deeds that she'd done,
She'd tied the knot on the third iron wrung,
She was tired of smiling and holding her tongue.

Now here's a story that must be told,
She was misunderstood said the young and old,
Her smiles were fake and her heart was cold,
Never was a winning smile, no heart of gold.
