Chapter 1 Dreaming

It was the day of the final in the Grand Prix competition me and Toffee were about to jump the last jump, the moment I have dreaming about since my life begun. The thrust of excitement that would hit my face when I jump, the sound of my heart beating before I got in starting position, to any typical teenage girl that seemed like nothing but to me it felt like I was floating in heaven, to the people watching it was like I was in the air for three seconds but to me it felt like I was in the air for the amount of time spent in a week, I felt like I would never come down. I got Toffee into starting position but before we could start... "MEL WAKE UP SWEETIE DON'T WANNA BE LATE!" My eyes shot open. "Great I was only dreaming." I mumbled. "DID YOU HEAR ME MEL!" Emma shouted in her warning voice "YEAH SORRY I HEARD YOU!" I shouted back quickly. I jumped out of bed and into the bath room where I splashed water on my face, brushed my teeth and ran back to my room and striped my cloths. I pulled on my navy blue skinny jeans, my green top then I pulled on my dark purple just do it jumper, I quickly put on my dark blue vans then pulled my hair into a messy bun. I looked into the mirror and smiled. " Perfection." I ran down the stairs to find Emma seated at the kitchen counter drinking a cup of tea "Gosh Mel must you thunder around the house like that every morning it is starting to get quite annoying," She said once she saw me. "I'm sorry it's just that I have to check on Toffee before I go to school." I said as Emma gave me an exaggerated sigh. I smiled at my twenty seven year old cousin even though she's tough on me she is still an angel. When my parents moved to Barcelona for a business trip nine years ago she took me in. She was there when I had no one, she was there to let me sleep in her bed when I had nightmares. She taught me the important things to a teenage girl and I love her to bits. Still before my parents left they bought me one very important thing to me, my horse Toffee she is an Arabian chestnut and she has the most silkiest mane in the world. " Anyway I gotta go Emma so catch you later." I said grabbing a red, shiny apple before bounding for the door. "See ya Melly." She said just before I closed the door. I love it when she calls me that I may be a fourteen year old but for some reason when she calls me that I feel like a care free little kid. I made my way around the house and to the paddock. I found Toffee grazing by the fence. When I was a few steps from her. Her head shot up and she whinnied when she saw. "Hey baby girl." I said as I opened the gate and steped out into the open field. Immediately she gracefully trotted over to me. She used her noise to nuzzle my pocket where I kept the apple "Oh yeah," I said patting her on the back," I got something for you,"I held out the apple for her to eat and it was gone in seconds. She gazed at me with her big brown eyes. "Oh do you want your water," I said before running to the stable and filling Toffee's blue bucket with water. I carried the bucket out of the stable and quickly made my to where Toffee was still grazing, I settled the bucket by her and stroked her mane before waving goodbye and exiting the field. I locked the gate behind me then hopped on my bike which was leaning on the gate. I began my ten minute journey to school. I go to North Hampton High School which has got the best gym department in the United States. And yes I am kind of a gym freak but oh well, some people thinks its cool. I could see my school from up ahead, I quickened my pace, excited to meet my friends. I have the best friends in the entire world, Becca, the crazy red head, Monica, the geeky brunette, James the funny one and Kevin the reasonable, yet annoying one. I arrived at school in 3 minutes I leaned my bike by the others and ran to the tree where me and my friends meet up. "Hey guys!" I shouted when they saw me."Bananas your here," James shouted, giving me a bone crushing hug. He has been calling me that ever since I dyed my hair marroon which is kind of stupid because bananas are yellow. "Melissa Maria Andrews, look how much you've grown," Becca said hugging me then pulling away to look me up and down "Becca I am still same the five foot five teenage girl I was last week, you dimwit" I said shaking my head at her "No, something is different, just can't put my finger on it, Hey and don't call me dimwit." She said, lifting her eyebrows and pointing at me "Don't worry Mel she's been doing that to everyone" Monica said while giving Becca a death glare "So Mel how's Toffee." Kevin said "She's better then ever I we might have a chance of getting into the Grand Prix this year
