The Spiders' Birthday

Introduction:

It is a little know fact that on the 15th day in July, females of a certain species of spider lay their eggs. Hours after being laid, the tiny clutch hatches and the offspring begin their short lives. As the spiders hatch, the mother dies, leaving her children to fend for themselves.
This phenomenon is widely unknown around the world but for centuries has been an important event in some smaller communities of eastern England.
This 'festival' is not written about and there have been no records. I only found out about it when I moved to one of these small communities with my wife and children three years ago.

I have recently recovered from a coma and as I'm the only one left, I thought it best that I share what I can remember.
