The Cabin In The Woods

I couldn't believe it; I couldn't have picked a worse time to get lost in the forest. The terror of the black night was amplified by a low, unforgiving mist. I stumbled around, trying in vain to look for a way out of the deserted forest. All of a sudden I made out a shape in the distance. The scene was that of a horror movie. Dead, dark oaks loomed over the tiny log cabin. The fog was so thick I could hardly see twenty feet in front of me. I felt a strange attraction to the cabin, as if something, or someone, was calling me. I took a step forward. The ground seemed to shudder with each step I took towards the forsaken, rotting carcass of a house. An eternity seemed to pass before I reached the door. The sporadic scratchings on the door sent shivers down my spine. My hand was drawn towards the door as if it were magnetic, I couldn't resist. My half frostbitten finger made contact with the cold, wooden surface of the door. When suddenly a shock greater than any I had ever felt before jolted through my body and knocked me flat on my back. Silence befell the forest for a few seconds. An invisible being pulled me into the cabin by my ankles, tearing down the door with me. I caught a swift glimpse as I was dragged inside; I quickly realised at the centre of the one room cabin there was an enormous hole, the room seemed to have been stripped down to the bare minimum. Just four walls and a roof. The hole sucked me in before I had a chance to grab hold of a bony root that had grown through the East wall. The drop was slow and pitch black. After an unmeasurable time of free-fall I became aware of an unnerving crescendo of a high pitched, hellish, screeching sound. The very air around me vibrated with the immense, demonic scream. Suddenly I felt every bone in my body simply shatter, my life's experiences dissolved, my past, present and future disappeared. My soul split into two. The part of me who wanted to be back at home, in my warm bed with a roaring fire, and the part that was now truly evil, a slave to the dark forever...

Thank you for reading, sleep tight. :)
