Febuary, Chapter 9

I open my eyes and find Dr. X standing over me. "Aaahh!" I scream and about fall out of bed.
"Nice to see you too. Would you care to tell us where Summer and Katrina are?" Dr. X asks kindly.
"No!" I want to just hop up out of bed and start running away, but I can't.
"Hope you're feeling better." Dr. X then walks out of the room. I hope I'm feeling better, too. I wave my arm around a little and it doesn't hurt. I flex my arm, but that hurts. Hey, it's better than nothing!
"Pssst." A voice whispers from across the hall. Nikki. "Are you escaping today?"
If it hurts to flex my arm, then no. "No."
Nikki sighs. "You have to do it soon."
"I know." My arm would never survive if I escaped now.

Two days later, my arm is fully healed, somehow. Dr. X released me from my bed and now we're at a fancy banquet for an agent called Z. I remember my two guards, Wess and Max, talking about how Z is their boss and I'm her daughter. I still haven't seen her yet, so I don't know if it is the lady who attacked me and Kat in LC that one day.
I stab my ham and let it drop off my fork. Who knows, they could've poisoned it to make me tell them where Summer and Kat are! But I really need to get up my strength if I'm planning on escaping today, which I am.
I shove down my entire ham slice and everything else on my plate, too. Then I tell Dr. X, who is at my table, that I need to go to the bathroom.
"Oh, fine, but make it quick." she agrees. Yes! Step one of My Escape is complete!
I run out of the giant hall we're in and run to the security guard's room. "There's a fire in the Grand Hall!" I fake cough. "One of the chandellers fell down and it caught everything on fire!"
The security guards look at each other and run. I don't know where to, but they run. Yes! Step two of My Escape is done!
I then search frantically around the security desk and find what I'm looking for- the outer door keys. Step three- done.
After that, I race out of the security room, but not at top speed. I need my energy for later, when I'm running away from Solo Everon. Finally, I find a door that looks like the one that I escaped out of before. I press the key to the door, since it's the kind of key where it's circle shaped and you have to press it against a door. I don't hear a click, but I run in anyway.
A voice screams when I run out- or in.
"What are you doing here?!?" The person screeches. I'm not outside. I'm in a dressing room that's probably for the banquet.
I'm about to turn and leave when me and the person lock eyes. It's not just a person- it's Z, the lady who attacked me in LC, my mom.
"You..." We say at the same time. I can tell she's about to attack me, but I stop her.
"No! Dr. X wants to keep me and tell her where my sister and where my friend are!"
"But you don't know, do you?" Z has a devious smile on her face. I think about lying, saying that I do, but that would just make her more angry. Instead, I just weakly shake my head side to side.
"You were my weak child. You're not worth anything, Summer is. It would be better if you just... dissappeared, wouldn't it? Yes... I think it would..."
Then my mom lunges at me.
