I hear something in the dead of night
Outside of my window, just out of sight
I hear it creep inside my house
Quieter than a skilful mouse
It creaks slightly on the first step
But I hear no reaction, I her no breath
It makes its deadly way up and up
Up and up… up and up…
Until its on the landing
Silently standing
I hear no sound from outside my room
Not a whisper nor a boom
The shadow's being stealthy, slow
But already do I know
The something's outside my bedroom door
I hear quiet steps on the floor
And I see the shadows shift and twirl
My head is a feverish whirl
I hear the deadly silent shadow
Coming in, its eyes wide and hollow
It hovers there beside my wall
I want to scream and shout and call
But fear keeps me silent
And through the deadly quiet
A harsh voice laughs, daring me
To take my chance, but steadily
My blood begins to freeze with fear
The shadow now is coming near
I'm feeling drowsy, my eyelids fall
I can't stay awake anymore.
I close my eyes and close them tight,
And sleep soundly for all that night
But what I didn't know before
Is that I will sleep forevermore…
