Jack

I wandered out one night when I ought to have been in bed
I followed where the feeling took me, ignoring my cautious head
I ended up in the garden in pyjamas pink and white
Nothing on my feet as I braved the darkened night
The snow was fresh and deep and it filled me with a joy
Then in the corner of my eye I saw a silhouetted boy
He wore the same as me, but his pyjamas white and blue
His eyes were blue as water and he had floppy blonde hair too
He had nothing on his feet but he didn't look cold at all
I dropped down to all fours and towards him I crawled
He hadn't seen me yet and I wasn't going to let him see
But he knew that I was there, for he looked down and there was me
His eyes locked on mine and my head told me this was bad
Then I heard something behind me, there stood my dad
He looked at me with wonder and I turned around to see
The boy I'd seen had vanished, and now there was just me
The next night I went out there and there he was again
Although I didn't know him, I felt he was a friend
I rushed up to him this time, no longer afraid
I asked him what his name was, so then he spoke his name
I looked into his eyes again and knew he spoke the truth
I shouldn't have done what I did, but my mind was loose
I leaned in and I kissed him, without a clue as to why
Our lips parted from each other and he looked me in the eye
He grinned a cheeky grin and we kissed a little more
Then a sound behind me, my dad through the back door
I felt him leave at once, but daren't turn around
Silent and stealthy, he'd left without a sound
The snow began to fall and the feathered frost was here
I went back to the garden that day of every year
I always left a kiss for him, although my sentiments were lost
We could not be together, for, you see, he was Jack Frost
