The Peony Days

A flash of pink
A purple haze
The peony days...

Cellphones
Lipstick
Magazines

Open hate and silent screams

Blusher
Sparkles
Fairy lights

Ones pain, another's delight

Boys
Toys
High-heeled shoes

Beggars aren't allowed to choose

Fake tan
Hair dye
Miniskirts

Learn to fake and flaunt and flirt

iPhones
Boyfriends
Frills and lace

Shut your mouth and learn your place

Meeting
Feelings
Wedding bells

After all, your body's yours to sell

White dress
Aisle
Honeymoon

You won't be yourself quite soon

Conception
Pregnant
Childbirth

Boundless joy and endless mirth

A magical
Moment
Been and gone

First a daughter, then a son

By this
Time you're
Tired out

All they do us scream and shout

You stop
And sit
And reminisce

You wonder how it came to this

A flash
Of pink
A purple haze

Long gone are the peony days...

Wow! Very well written, it flowed really well... are the peony days a term you came up with yourself?

@burrahobbit yeah it's just peony is a kind of pinky purple and it just reminded me if the way some girls grow up, dresses and fairies... And then they grow up and look back on their childhood and wonder where it all went...

Ohh ok I see! It was very well written! 💜😊

@burrahobbit thanks, but I think it closes too quickly to be honest...

Not at all! It seems fine to me! 😊

Another excellent poem!
