Chapter 10
Josh's POV
I can't believe it worked. I think she wants to hang out with me. I would do anything to know. To know how she feels about me. About us..
We sat down on the sofa with a bucket of popcorn and Green Apple Floats. It might sound gross to you but it's like Heaven on Earth! Like, LEGIT! Payton grabbed a king size bag of M&Ms out of the cupboard. She reached for the remote and started the movie again.
Should I 'make a move' or just wait for the right moment? Even if I wanted to, what would I do? Put my arm around her? Move closer to her? Kiss her? No. I can't kiss her not here and not now. What if her dad comes home early? I know he usually works all-nighters but I can't be sure that he won't come home early. Maybe I could question her, likes and dislikes.. That wouldn't be weird right? Or maybe I should tell her about my own likes and dislikes.
I hear a voice, it brings me out of my cloud of thought and brings me back to reality.
Payton's POV
"Josh?"
"Yeah?"
He looks over at me.
"You ok?" I ask.
"Yeah, I was just thinking.."
"About what?" I ask.
"Stuff.."
I can tell he doesn't want to tell me.
"What kind of stuff?" I ask.
"Just stuff.."
"Come on, you can tell me anything."
I move closer to him. My heart is beating like a drum.
"Well.. One of my friends is really good friends with a girl and he likes her a lot. And he doesn't want to ruin their friendship. He's not sure what to do.."
"Well, I think that if this
friend of yours really likes her he should tell her." I say, heart pounding faster.
"Yeah I guess but, how? He can't just walk up to her and say that he loves her.."
"If he really likes her he shouldn't be afraid to tell her to her face or while he's with his friends.." I say.
"Yeah."
And thats the end of our conversation. We didn't talk for the rest of the movie. Did I say something I shouldn't have said?
Josh's POV
What else was I supposed to say? I didn't want to just blurt it out. No. I want to do it in private. Or should I do it with my friends? The movies almost over.
"I probably should get home.." I say to her. "If you find my jacket text me or something."
I stand up and walk up the stairs. I lay my jacket on the floor in the bathroom. I walk down the hall and out the door.
