First Look

Chapter 2
Liam
"Mrs. Johnson is here. Who do you think is going?" Layla barged in my bedroom the next day. Mrs. Johnson is the Social Worker. I sighed because I knew it had to be me. I'm always moving to a different foster home.
"I'm gonna miss ya, kid." I said and hugged her. She had me in a vice grip. She wasn't going to let me go.
"No! You are not leaving! I don't want to miss you."
"Then don't. I can't control these things. If I'm not too far away, I'll come visit you."
"You better! It's going to get boring around here. Maybe it's Kyle that's going, not you." I gave her a sympathetic look and squeezed her harder. I'm going to miss her a lot. She was my best friend, my little sister. I don't make many friends because I'm always moving. This is why. I get attached to someone, then leave them.
"You're going to grow up to be amazing. Forget about little ole me. I love ya." I whispered against her hair and untangled myself from her. She was crying and it broke my heart. I know she is fourteen and not a little kid but I see her in that way. She's so fragile to me. I grabbed my suitcase that I never bothered to unpack and gave her one last hug.
"Liam George Wilder, you better call me the second you get to your new home." She said sternly. I have her a goofy grin.
"Yes, mom." I said as I walked out the door.
"Liam, you're already packed?" Mrs. Johnson said when I walked downstairs.
"Yes ma'am. I never unpack because of how much I move around."
"Have you said your goodbyes?"
"Yes. I'm all ready."
"Let's go to your new home then." She said and gave me a warm smile.
"Bye Claudia." I said and hugged her.
"I'll miss you." She said and hugged me back just as fiercely.
"Right back at ya. Tell Fred thanks for everything."
"I will. Bye."
"I think you'll like you're new home. There is only two other people. A boy that's your age and a little girl that's eight." Mrs. Johnson said on our drive over to the house. I hope so.

Kayla
"Hey beautiful." Michael said from behind me. I turned around and smiled at him. We were in the hallway at school.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Just talking to my girl." He grabbed me around the waist and spun me around. I squealed and laughed at the same time. He put me down and kissed me.
"What was that for?" I asked a little dazed. I was sure I had the biggest smile on my face. I glanced and there were girls looking envious towards us. I know a lot of girls have crushes on him. Who wouldn't have a crush on a star athlete?
"Just because I wanted to. How is your day going?"
"It just got a whole lot better." I said as I reached my locker. He smiled his hundred watt smile at me. His teeth are perfect. Straight and completely white. His honey colored hair is swooshed to the side, making me want to run my hands through it. His light brown eyes were smiling down at me. I put my stuff in my locker and Michael wrapped his arms around my waist while I was turned around.
"You make me so happy." He whispered against my hair. I turned around in his grasp. I raised up on my tip toes and was an inch away from him mouth.
"Ditto." I said and kissed him as the late bell rang. I pulled back and scurried away from him. He is possibly the best boyfriend ever.

Michael
I was walking to my class when I got pulled into the janitors closet. I almost fell with how hard they pulled me.
"Hey." Liz said.
"Oh, hey." I didn't really like Liz, but she gave me what I wanted.
"So when are you breaking up with Kayla?"
"I don't know. Sometime soon, I'm pretty sure. It has to be soon if I want to keep your little body." I said and pulled her against me. I began kissing her neck.
"I really don't want to do this in secrecy anymore." I just grunted. "We should be able to do this in public. Act like an actually couple." That made me stop.
"Couple? Kayla might be a bitch but I'm not in a relationship with you and her. I'm going to break up with her soon, but I'm not dating you."
"Then what do you call this?" She countered.
"If you want me to stop I will." I backed up with my hands in a surrendered position.
"That's not what I meant!" She rushed towards me and wrapped her arms around my waist. I picked her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist instead. Who needs English class when I have this?

I walked into chemistry twenty minutes late. Liz walked in ten minutes before me. Kayla gave me a questioning look but I shook my head. I took my seat by this guy named Lupe. We sit at tables and only two at one. The teacher assigned the seats so we couldn't pick them. Kayla sat by herself in the back. She didn't have a partner to do anything with. I felt pretty bad that she was alone. She was a great student though so she didn't really need a partner. Me, on the other hand, needed all the help I could get. I always copied off Lupe in everything. That's the only reason I have a B in this class. I would probably be failing all my classes if Kayla didn't do most of my homework for me. That's probably the best part of having her as my girlfriend. What can I say? There might be guys who are players, but I'm the coach.
