The Tamers

Chapter 1 (part 7)
"Hey." I said when I slid into his car.
"Hey." Tony said but didn't lean over to kiss me. He at least always kisses me on the cheek. He pulled out of the parking spot without another word.
"We need to talk." He said after five minutes.
"You're breaking up with me." I said and stared straight ahead. I guess Jared was right about this.
"It's just not working out that great. We were great friends but it's better if we don't see each other. I'm really sorry about this." He said and wouldn't look at me. I knew I had tears falling down my face. "Please don't cry." He begged.
"Take me back to the shop." I said and tried to will myself to stop crying. My tears kept falling though. I rubbed furiously at them. When we got back to the shop, it had only been about ten minutes that I was gone.
I jumped out of the car and walked through the shop. I just hoped my face wasn't too splotchy from crying. I passed by Jared and he looked at me and smiled. The smiled slipped right off his face when he realized I was crying. He took a step towards me but I hurried out of the shop. I was in my car but didn't leave right away. I rested my head against the steering wheel and kept crying. I thought Tony and I were getting along great. Maybe he found some other girl. I couldn't stand it though. I drove to a gas station and bought a Ben & Jerry's Imagine Whirled Peace ice cream. I was going to get fat since it didn't matter anymore. I was going to enjoy every bit of this ice cream.

"Granny called and wanted to ask if you were okay?" My mom asked as she peeked her head in my room. I was absolutely not okay.
"Tony broke up with me today for no reason. He just showed up and called it off. How did granny know I wasn't feeling good?"
"Mrs. Sheffield called her after she saw you crying. How are you feeling, sweetie?" She sat on the side of my bed and eyed my ice cream. "Not good at all, huh?"
"Not good at all." I agreed and took a huge bite of ice cream. "This guy Jared knew all about it, too. He kind of warned me about it."
"You know who Jared is?"
"You know him? I met him yesterday at the bakery."
"Tony broke up with you today? Interesting." She stated.
"Yeah." I said solemnly and took another huge bite of ice cream. The interesting part didn't even register. I glanced at her and she had a serious expression on her face. It looked like the wheels were turning in her head. Her attention snapped back to me. She gave me a smile full of pity.
"It'll be better soon." She said and walked away. What did she mean by that?
