A teacher's assistant was fired for not turning over her Facebook password to the administration when requested. Right or wrong?

Wrong!

Wrong! We are entitled to keep our information secure, and if they need to see it, they can simply view their profile. That's like an employer asking if you have kids, or asking about your sex life in some regards. If it is relevant, like say an investigation, then they should contact facebook directly. Asking for someone's password is not acceptable. SSI is understandable, facebook is not your SSI, or anything. There should be no reason for why they got fired.

Wrong. No doubt.

Sounds like a sure case to sue for unfair dismissal. They had no right too her password.

@JollyRoger I'm inclined to agree. Unfortunately in today's economy people are so scared for employment they are likely to give up a freedom to retain a job, setting a terrible precedent.
