The saying is common; if you are confused about a course of direction, just ask "WWJD" (what would Jesus do) or if you are of other interests "WWTDD" (what would The Doctor do) or "WWSD" (what would Steve do).
Let me suggest an alternative. Since none of those people are you, why not mentally take a step to the side and ask, "What Would I Do?" After all, none of those others will have to live with the consequences of your decision.
