Meeting Steven

Twas gloaming outside,
Neither day nor the night,
I heard a low growl,
which gave me a fright,
I wanted to run,
but my tights were too tight
my courage was fading in vanishing light.
I was in the deep woods,
the path out of sight.

I peered in the dark,
was it all just a ruse?
"I've not even seen it"
I paused and I mused.
the truth is you see,
I'm not hard to confuse.
The growl came again,
near some portable loos.
I now cursed myself for non-sensible shoes
(they'd already caused a sizeable bruise).

A wolf then burst out,
and stood in my way,
Its haunches and nose,
a dark grizzled grey,
I stood there in fear,
and I knew I was prey,
I needed a plan,
without any delay,
Just then from behind,
I heard a voice say:
"don't worry about him,
he just wants to play"

I turned and I looked,
there a gentleman stood,
all dressed up in velvet
with a cloak with a hood,
(also not clothed,
for a night in the woods),
"his first name is Steven, his last name is Blood"
(I'm not sure that that names' impression was good)
I noticed his trousers were covered in mud.

"Come here often?
He asked with a smile,
"Actually I've not been here for a while"
We stood then in silence
right next to a stile
"Erm Steven and I have been walking for miles"
He said awkwardly,
conversation a trial.
We three then went home,
in single file.

I'm excited by little things, like shiny plastic and new friends. I go to the beach in winter.
