Ashes To Dust Chapter 1

My boots made a sloshy sound as I walked on the side walk filled with puddles. It started to rain about 15 minutes ago. I should've brought a bike or something. I made a quick run to 7-11 to get a Doctor Pepper. There wasn't anything good to drink at my house. I started to pick up a faster pace because the raindrops seemed to be getting bigger. I'm pretty sure I heard lightening in the distance. I looked to my side and saw the Steve's Auto Parts building. I always hated that building. Once it went out of business like 5 years ago nobody bothered to buy the building. So it sat there, collecting cobwebs. I kept walking. When I got to my house the bottle was half empty. I ran up the steps to the porch, opened the door, and walked inside. All the lights were off. I guess I was home alone. After the fire luckily our insurance covered all of the damages and the second story was saved. Fire fighters couldn't save Adam, they never even found the body. I stopped hanging out with Ian because earlier the day of the fire Adam thought Ian was the one behind the letters. I haven't gotten Amy letters since then. I'm not sure if I suspected Ian. He followed my cousins and I to the hospital as soon as he heard about the story on the news. We haven't really talked since then. I walked into the kitchen and found a note on the kitchen counter. "ordered you some clothes, when you get home see if they're delivered. -mom" I walked back out side onto the porch. No package. That was a let down. I checked the mail.
