Maybe moving to a new place would be good. I mean, Lucy is important to me but I can find a close second in Cornwall. Besides, I can block out Miles and April. Then I can forget him, and just be me, myself, I.
The next day, I waddle down the stairs half asleep in my pyjamas. I rub my eyes and enter the kitchen.
"Answer?" my mum said, spotting me.
"Breakfast?" I asked instead.
"Sorry. You're right, that was very pushy. Tell us when you're ready." she said. I poured myself some Golden Nuggets and milk.
The thought of moving was crammed, drilled, jailed in my mind. I honestly had no idea whether or not I should say to my parents that I'm okay with moving. It was a tough decision.
I could start a whole new life somewhere else, which would be good, I guess. I could try being a makeup girl, or be more like a skater girl, or a music girl, or a shy girl, or the not popular girl but the one everybody likes. Yes, the girl world is very complicated but it's extremely important you get it right.
Plus, Cornwall's a lovely place. It rains quite a bit there, but you can get the best summer's possible in the country of England. There's loads of Fairs and beaches there. It could be loads of fun there, with lots if friends, not just one, and cool new school. There's nothing wrong with change, and I'm also sure Lucy wouldn't mind. All this time I've just been telling myself that we're best friends but we're not - she's abandoned me! I think I have talked myself into it enough.
I stopped eating my cereal and look up at my Mum.
"Yes. I'm okay with moving. The sooner the better."
