La La Love : Part 3 : Jinx

"Jinx," I heard Cherry's voice from beside me. I took off my headphones and left it hanging on my neck. Music immediately flowed into my ears. Alicia was singing cheerfully while Cody was playing his guitar. I think they're playing Seize the Day. I smiled a little. One of my favourite bands, Avenged Sevenfold. The rest were having a picnic.
"What is it?" I asked in a raspy voice. That's what happens when you don't talk much.
"I knew it! How come when we call you, you never listen but when Cherry calls you, you immediately answer?" Lily complained loudly. She was chewing the homemade lunch that Cherry made. I gave them a confused look and cleared my throat.
"You called?" I said quietly. They stared at me and I stared back.
"Yes we did. Actually we've been calling your name for about three minutes now," Dylan replied. I stared at them blankly and shrugged.
"So what is it?" I asked. Lily shoved me a poster.
"There's gonna be a music festival in the school soon. You wanna join?" Dylan asked. I looked at the poster. There was a prize money of 10 000 dollars.
"You're that poor?"
"Hey, don't be like that! I live by myself you know? And 10 000 dollars is a lot of money!" Dylan complained. Scholarship students.
"We can make a band!" Lily said full of enthusiasm. Suddenly the guitar stopped. Cody turned in our direction as if he just noticed our presence. Alicia abruptly stopped singing and looked at Cody as if she sensed something.
"You wanna do it don't you?" Alicia sighed as if she expected that. Cody walked over to our place.
"Lemme see that," Cody said taking the paper from me.
"Hey, don't be so rude to Jinx!" Lily said, a little pissed. Cody ignored her and started reading. A smug smile appeared on his face.
"Lisha! We should join this!" he said cheerfully. Lisha crawled over behind Cody to take a look and frowned.
"Yea we should," she started, "But I think that you should be in a different group than ours."
The smile on Cody's face faded. "Wha- Why?"
"We talked about this already, Cody."
"But I don't want to! I won't play the guitar unless you sing!"
"Don't be like that. You can sing just as well and there are plenty of other singers more talented than I am."
"I won't join unless you sing!"
"Then so be it," Alicia said coldly. Everyone looked surprised. Since they transfered, they've always been inseperable. Cody stared at Alicia like he couldn't believe it. I took a piece of bread from pile of food in the middle and took a bite. Now this is going to be a show.
"F, fine then! If you're gonna be like that, I'll take Dylan and Jinx in my team!" Cody said angrily. Dylan and I stayed quiet.
"Then we'll go with Lisha!" Lily said, pulling Cherry with her. Damn, I wanted to be with Cherry...
Alicia looked shocked. Cody looked like he was taken aback. He abruptly stood up and stormed out the church.
"Well that ended nicely," I heard Dylan said, munching on his bread.
