I awake slowly, knowing that today would be the day I see my best friend yet again. A light stretch and I'm out of bed. As I pull down a randomly found shirt to cloak my humanity, a possible metaphor of how secretive humans are, my eyes are attracted to a light flicker.
I turn to follow the origin and see a message has been sent to my phone. I pick it up expecting to see her name but instead am distraught to find another. 'Alex.'
I sigh in exhaustion of the thought. Yet for some odd reason, I was compelled to go see him. I fought this notion as I made my way to her house.
As I walked through the barriers of gates and stairs, I come upon her door, caved within the hallway and snugly fit in the back. I approach it, fighting the feelings. Of course there was always something... A vibration. Of course... I look to my phone to find another message.
'Meet me at Safeway? --Alex'
Of course he wouldn't be chivalrous enough to come get me... A sigh and a fallen head, I look to her door and walk away, an invisible apology in the place where I had stood.
I wake up..
