The Poison Tree
This is one of my favorite poems, written by William Blake. Enjoy. I was angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow.
College student, athlete, poet. Please let me know how I can improve.
This is one of my favorite poems, written by William Blake. Enjoy. I was angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow.
A poem written through the eyes of a six year old child.
#acrostic Could you stop and listen to One of the stories I tell to you. My life drawn out among the pages Pictures of fools and photos of sages.
This one was written in honor of all the broken bones that, through the healing process, brought people closer together.
This is a more personal poem that I wrote about an incident I had with a sibling a few years ago. Also, I was trying something a little different with repetition and I'm not really sure if it worked.
This poem was inspired a while back by a poem by #Blueblotts, who has since vanished from the Opussing world.
This poem is sort of a tribute to all the people, places, songs and ideas that have inspired me throughout the years. Some are direct quotes, others more abstract.
This is a sonnet I wrote for one of my classes. It lacks the iambic pentameter though. The lives of we mortals are measured in time The merciless meter of our human race.
I found God in the arc of a banana peel Released from my hand Pitched perfectly into the garbage bin on the kitchen floor.
One of my few attempts at non-rhyming (more towards free-verse) poetry. I don't know what drips from my mother's fingers while she sleeps.
This poem was written for @burrahobbit 's #colourchallenge contest using purple, but it might also have some environmental message. Oh well. Roy G.
This poem was started over a year ago, but I wasn't able to come up with the final stanza until tonight (I don't know why, but that's how it worked).
This story was written as part of a competition at my college where we were given the first line and had five minutes to write a story.
I apologize beforehand if this story seems a little preachy; I've been reading a lot of Ayn Rand lately and it might be rubbing off.
Thank you to everyone who entered this competition. These results might be a little early, but I'm not going to be able to get back onto Opuss until tomorrow, so here we go.
This poem was inspired by...something I read somewhere. I'm not really sure who wrote it or where I heard it, but it alluded to the belief that Death was infatuated with Life.
As of right now, with about a day left for the competition, I've only received one entry. Anybody wishing to participate, please get your entries in to me as soon as possible.
This one is a little more abstract than most of my poems, but I was trying something new. #colourchallenge S-ee me rise. Alive. Awake.
Thank you @sjw for picking me to write the next #Beginningline. I loved reading everything everybody wrote and had a lot of fun.
#nightdwellers #beginingline #sjw Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's story "The Outsider" I stood frozen, facing the old, ornate mirror and too scared to open my eyes.
This poem was partially inspired by a book I read about 5 years ago called "The Book Thief". Written by Marcus Zusak, Death is a narrator.
This is one that I wrote in honor of my youngest brother and the many times he's been in trouble. My mother told me "Child, you must come in and go to bed.
Normally, I just stick to writing poetry or poetic stories, but I've been trying to write a decent fiction story for a while now and this was the best I've come up with.
This was not originally intended to be a love poem, but it had a mind of it's own. Oh well...
Sorry to bother everyone, but I'm a little confused on how the ranking system works. Does it measure the total number of comments/likes you make.
I cannot claim credit for this one, it was recently written by one of my friends. I liked it and thought I'd pass it on to you.
I wrote this one for my class.
I wrote this one last Mother's Day and made an origami box to go with it.
Just a fun one. The lad said the test gave him trouble For he filled in every wrong bubble If he kisses some a$$ He can hopefully pass And his grade will probably double.
I've been working on this one for a while and was recently able to finish it thanks to some inspiration from #Blueblotts (#EndofDays).
This one might result in some consternation since it attempts to address the issue of abortion. If you disagree with me, I respect that, but please don't start an argument in the comment section.
DISCLAIMER!!. This limerick contains two swear words, which I never actually use but considered fitting for the poem.
For the price of one night, a soul could be lost or a soul could be made..
When the rain comes down The worms begin to rise up Like drowning sailors.
An apple orchard When facing an early frost Will serve chilled cider.
This is the first line And this is the second one Then we have the third.
She said she would if you did, but you didn't, so now she never will..
#opussweeklychallenge 17 years ago, on the hottest day of the hottest summer we had ever known, I almost had a sister.
This is not technically a poem, just a...thing. I don't really know what to call it. I don't see the world the way you do. You have your eyes and I have mine, which is fine, just don't think I'm...
This poem was written about a year ago for a friend of mine who was having some problems.
Be cautious when making solutions Titrations, Filtrations, Dilutions If you mix the wrong stuff You'll go up in a puff Creating some noxious pollutions..
I have seen your other face, the one that shies away I have seen the great disgrace you hide from light of day I have seen a second side I didn’t want to see And now, my friend, you must decide,...
This poem was written for my high school graduation.
This is was my first, and thus far only, attempt at writing a sonnet. The sun hides its face from the winter dance As the sleeping sprites of cold fall to earth.
This poem was inspired by Mark Twain's "War Prayer". With a painful lurch the stranger came into the room, And cast his eyes about into the darkness and the gloom.
This poem was inspired by the story of Absalom from the Bible. Child of mine, as yet unknown I've made for you a loving home You may come, and stay with me You have my love, eternally . . .
This poem was inspired by the song "Anything For You" from the band "Ludo" I have ventured to the farthest reaches of cold space And walked on worlds where brave men dare not roam Spoken to the...
This poem was originally going to be a reference to "Doctor Who", but it quickly became something else entirely.
This poem was written about 4 years ago, but it's still one of my favorites.
This is my most recent poem and arose as a result of a discussion with my family about the danger's of inaction A wise man went unto a witch, his fortune to be told He hoped to see his future days...
