A knock on the knee when I was wee
I used to sit on m' mammy's knee.
Her apron tore
An' I fell on the floor
An' that was the end o' me.
She chased me from town to town
Screaming all the streets down.
She'd beat me blue
'Til me bones showed through
With a wooden spoon an' a frown.
That's a lesson sorely learnt,
I got me fingers burnt.
Don't sit on a lap
Or you'll lose your bap
To a ma who's head is turned.
