Do you ever wonder
Who the shining faces are
In the night sky?
Smiling down at us?
Who's body they once filled?
Who's eyes they glistened out of?
Who's smile they used
To illuminate a tear
Or beatify a laugh?
A soul once walking
Now immortalised, flying,
Winking from above.
Once just another life
Like yours and mine,
Another person on this Earth
Who was young,
Who grew old,
Who fell asleep thousands of times
And once did not wake up,
Who slid silently into the evening sky
Of diamonds set in velvet.
Another life evaporated,
Another light lost from our orb
Of buzzing neon and flashing torches,
To be thrown to the cosmos,
Energy returned to the loop
To light our way.
Guidance to the traveller
Who paces their own road
Towards their spot in the Heavens
Alongside those lost
And burning bright
As faces in the night sky.
