Happiness

They say that happiness is a form of courage, as if a smile will fell a foe or slay a dragon. In reality, it's just accepting what is, the byproduct of compromise, The Beggar's Lot.
We spend all our lives enslaved, searching for joy, unravelling the enigma with the answer always at our finger tips but never within reach. We chase our tails and search in nooks and crannies. We try to capture the elusive, bottle it, hoard it in a box and pin shadows to trees.
But if we stop chasing tails and checking crannies, ceased pushing in pins and sitting on suitcases to keep everything in, if we sat in peace and learnt to live to accept what was we can change what will be. We can hold our slides - however tiny they may be in the grand scheme of things - up to the sunlight. The butterfly's wings will be beautified and the glassy faces of saints beatified in death as in life, science and faith side by side, together and at peace. And happiness will be caught simply by letting things be.
