Don't Blink

(not nearly finished yet)
Chapter one:
Are you scared?

She was sat there. Covered in blood. Crying. I didn't know what to do. She was helpless and well, I wasn't very helpful. She screamed "HELP" but I was too scared, too scared to do anything. I just froze. My hands were cramped and my legs were shaking. The neighbourhood dogs were howling louder than usual. Tears were pouring down my cheeks. Everything was a blur. Then I woke up, relieved it was just a dream. I walked down the stairs which creaked on every step. As I walked through the Living room and into the kitchen, all my family were there, with their face's as pale as snow and lips greyer than grey and their hair as black as... Wait a minute.
"what's wrong with everyone?" I screeched, and you could hear the fear in my voice. "But your hair is blonde, and so is yours and yours is brown like mine... WHAT'S GOING ON??"

Everyone just stared at me. Their eyes as big as a full blown moon, those big, red, beady eyes, they sent shivers down my spine. In hope it was only a dream, it seemed too real. And I was terrified. I wasn't waking up. The dog just glared at me. My eyes opened wide, my palms were sweaty, cheeks red raw and my forehead was hotter than the sahara desert. My heart was beating so fast I could feel it in my throat. My stomach was more knotted than the Christmas lights, just out of the loft from last year. I looked in the mirror and I got paler by the second. My hair colour faded and faded until it turned black, my lips had already turned grey. My eyes were burning but water wouldn't help. I looked at the mirror and in red lipstick it read 'Are you scared?' I closed my eyes and looked again but the writing had vanished.

Chapter two:
Who are you?

It was 11am. I walked outside to see if everybody was like us. The streets were empty. There was no cars or animals and no noise at all. The air was still yet the trees still swayed. I ran to my neighbours and I banged on the door... There was no answer. I knocked again. And shouted, "DAVE, DAVE"
Still no answer, my eyes started to water and I fell to the floor, I looked up but the sun was too bright I couldn't see,
"hello" said a strange voice
"Dave is that you" I muttered
"yes, who wants to know"
"it's me... Violet"
"violet, who's violet?"
"me, I'm violet, your best friend, remember?"
"I don't know anybody called violet"
At that moment I was scared, then the sun hid behind a tree and I could see Dave's face, he was grinning, trying to hold back his laughter, so I figured he was joking.
"Dave! I know your joking, I have been your best friend for like ever, I think I know you by now."
And he laughed.
"I'm sorry violet, but it's halloween, cheer up dude."
"I'm really scared, I mean, look at my hair!"
"what's wrong with your hair, its completely normal"
So I looked in the window at my reflection and my hair was brown again. I said goodbye to Dave and went back home.
I walked through the kitchen, but no-one was there, so I went to the living room and mum and dad were there, on the couch, watching tv, and my brother was sat at the computer on Facebook. Everyone was looking normal again. I really didn't know what was happening, and then, I blinked. And they were grey again.
'WHATS GOING ON?' I screamed, but no sound came out I looked in the mirror and I looked all black and white, so I ran upstairs, picked up my phone and rang for my other best friend Phoebe.
"Hey Phoebe"
"Hiya Vie"
I would have said her nickname but I was in a hurry to talk. I'd just remembered she was going through some tough times at home so I didn't tell her about my problems. And we just talked for hours as usual, about boys, school, you know, typical girl stuff. We both came off the phone at 11pm and went to sleep.

Chapter 3:
Not again!

Remember the dream I had yesterday? Well yeah I had it again. Still relieved it was only a dream. There she was again, crying on the floor. I didn't tell you about her much so i guess I'll tell you now. Her dirty blonde hair was oh so very long, and covered her hands which were covering her face. I could tell she was crying as she was made sobbing noises. She had a short, bright blue dress made of silk and full of rips. Her arms and legs were filthy and sore. She was sat in the middle of a very dark forest. There was no civilisation for atleast 11 miles. Although I wasn't as scared as the last time, I still feared what was going on downstairs with my family. But I prepared myself and walked down the stairs. This time they didn't creak, I opened the door, walked through the living room very slowly into the kitchen.
"mum" I squeaked, "are you there?"
She was stood at the oven, he looked pretty normal, but I could only see the back of her.
she turned around. And whilst she was I was fearing what she'd look like because she turned very slowly.
If this was a movie, scary music would be playing right about now. But when she faced me she was just smiling and it was the biggest smile I'd ever seen upon her face.
"you seem happy" I exclaimed
"yes. Very happy, now... Now that your here my dear."
She was still smiling and then tuned back around. My father took his head from his paper and looked at me, he also had a huge smile but it was different he had pins in his cheeks which seemed to make him smile.
