Mum poured a glass of water from the refrigerator water dispenser. Mr Cool clunked as ice fell from the dispenser to the glass, trails of cold mist floated away from Mr cool as beads of condensation clung to the glass. It was if a normality switch had been flicked to its correct position as Dad and John continued a conversation they must have been having when we came in.
Mum walked towards me up the stairs carrying my cold liquid effortlessly gliding with every stride.
I walked towards my room opened the door and sat on my bed.
Mum entered the room and handed me the water.
Looking a little sheepish she run her fingers through her hair "Aads you need to go see uncle Pete in the guest house for school in a bit then maybe we can go play in the tree house?" she said, her tone do warm and normal, just how I liked it.
I pretended that everything was ok, at least it seemed I might not have hurt Eveie. "ok mum".
