Alone

Here I sit alone. Away from the world. Sitting in the wind as I wait for it to stop. And when it finally does, I lay in beautiful sunlight alone. Birds are chirping in the early morning of the day. I look up to the sky. Not a cloud in sight. It is certainly a beautiful day. But then the wind picks up again and a chill runs down my spine. I sit against the strong trunk of the big tree and soon I learn to love the wind. Occasionally a quiet car passes by. I sit here listening to the quiet sounds of my small town. Tiny birds, leaves rustling, the slow deep breaths I take in. I sit here alone. I'm not angry, I'm not happy. But I smile for the first time in a very long time. Children are shouting as the ice cream truck passes by. I close my eyes as it gets louder and louder and louder. I open my eyes, an it's quiet again. I don't even hear the birds anymore. It's quiet and peaceful as I lay here alone and gone.
