There's an unfairness in the world,
Unfair in it's distribution,
Are some lives really so perfect,
Or is it an unfair illusion?
Are we all just clinging
To the tiniest hope
Of this thing we call
'Happiness?'
Am I at the whim of
Karma, gone awry, wrong?
I fight against it,
Refuse to give up my sanity by
Wallowing in the way some
Have all they want, while
I have nothing of the sort.
It's unfair, it's unjust,
That the good die young
And bad things happen
To the best of us.
I've tried to be fair, true,
To shield and protect all from
The injustice of the world,
But the scales keep tipping,
Slipping through my grasp,
And I've ended up with
An unfair measure, much
Less than I deserve;
Although some would say
It's my 'just desserts.'
