Shading Mask

You thought you knew me, but in fact you were so wrong

It's a surprise to me that it has taken you so long

To see right through me, see who I really am

But you didn't, and frankly I now don't give a damn

We swayed together, and the passion there was strong

But our dance was little more than a nimble love song

But we took pleasure in the moments that we made

As we played our parts in the grand ol masquerade

If you are somewhat curious, I warn you to not ask

Who is this man that you now peer upon in shading mask
