Ash tree, Ash tree,
I hope you make it through.
Fraxinus Excelsior,
I really hope you do!
An awful spore is getting in
And crawling through your bark,
Affecting leaves and branches,
With your death, it leaves its mark...
Doesn't seem like there is much
That we can do to lend a hand?
Except to WASH OUR BOOTS / SHOES / CLOTHES (& DOGS & KIDS !!!),
Once we're back home after rambling through this green and pleasant land.
So, please remember folks, if you've been out for an amble,
To wash your footwear well,
Please, let's not take a gamble.
Make sure those boots are clean,
Before you go back to the scene!
This countryside will surely feel bleak,
Without the Ash tree,
To play Hide and Seek?
It's such a shame,
But maybe it'll assist,
If we keep any spores to a minimum,
Put it on your list...
To clean those wellies, trainers and boots,
And wash all those hands, faces, and everything else to boot!!

Just a silly poem to try to raise a little more awareness for the UK Ash tree problem... :)
