You've been here for years
You've wiped our tears
Comforted us when we collapsed from fears
Silently mopped up spilled beers
We never appreciated your presence in our lives
Forgot you protected us from our falls
Forgot that your footprints mirrored ours
As we walked in to tell our big news
Now we talk about how you're old and disgusting
A replacement would be best now you're damp and musty
So we'll toss you out in the trash next week
Never feeling a moment of grief
For something that literally contains the last ten years of our lives
It's a nasty old carpet for God's sake! Get over it, jeez!
