I wear my scars plain upon my skin
The marks standing out against whiteness
Ugly and brutal though they may be
They are the evidence of my life
Scars on my feet from the distances I've walked
Scars on my hands from the animals I've handled
Scars on my legs from the many falls I've taken
Scars on my arms from the sadness that I've felt.
