Dying, the elephant lets out a scream
His face a bloody mess
Hearing the cries of the predators
Who circle, waiting for death
Gaping holes, where his tusks once were
Hewn out by a poacher's knife
Ivory, creamy and white
Tainted by an elephant's life
It's a cruel world where humans act
With total disregard
Driven by money, greed and lust
Peacefulness is marred
And as you press those piano keys
Bring music to the ears
Think of those who died in vain
And spare at least your tears.
