Chapter 6: Usual Way.

"You're a wolf?!" I repeated in disbelief "oh and I bet that tree is secretly a pig with wings."
Ricky laughed. "Not quite."
"I mean… how did I not know?"
"The more you get older, the power loses its use and just wears away unless it is found or spoken of."
I stood up, with Ricky's grey eyes watching.
"I better go home," I began "I've been gone for ages and mum will be worried."
Ricky nodded. "Come back later, I need to explain more and I'll bring a friend…"
Ricky vanished with only the sound of a few crunching leaves. I headed in the other direction, strolling along a leaf infested path. With, what only seemed like a few minutes, I had reached the end of the woods and was now in sun light. The hill up to my house seemed steeper than ever before. When I had eventually reached the top, the small cottage seemed desolate and lost. I carried on walking to the door. It was silent. I turned the handle slowly and gave the door a gentle push.
On the sofa I saw a lump of chestnut brown fur, curled up into a tiny ball. I went over and stroked Pixie's small head with the back of my hand. She flinched but didn't open an eye. I placed a pillow on the other sofa and lay down, covering the patched blanket over me.
My thoughts fluttered to a stop, as I fell into unconsciousness with my eyes swiftly closing.

An annoying tap on my shoulder woke me. I grunted and tried to ignore the tedious sound of a person breathing. As I bit my bottom lip, I could taste the blood on my tongue. The person waiting beside me, quietly coughed impatiently. I coughed louder, aiming to give them the idea that I didn't want to be disturbed. I still felt the breathing on my neck.
"What?!" I mumbled not sounding loud enough. I heard a sound but I wasn't really listening nor wanting to listen at the answer.
This time I heard. "Wake up, you lazy cow!" Ryan. He grabbed my arms and shook me from side to side. Then with one last frantic shove, I fell off the sofa. This was his usual way of waking people up, or at least getting their attention.
I scrambled to my feet, my fist clenched together.
"What in burnin' hell do you think you're doing?!" I yelled. This was my usual response to Ryan's usual way of waking.
He only grinned in answer. My hands reached for his neck. He dodge just in time, but I knew I was faster than him. I launched myself at him and threw my arms around his neck and my legs formed around his waist. Ryan jumped up and down, failing to get me off.
The ceiling above is creaked. We froze.
"What on earth is going on down here?" mum asked, walking down the stairs with her facial expression suggesting, she had just been woken up from a wonderful deep sleep and was wanting a perfect explanation for it!
"Is that some sort of trick questi-…" Ryan began but I shoved my hand over his mouth, so all you could hear were irritated muffled noises.
"Look," mum whispered firmly "I don't care what the reason is ok… just take it outside, do whatever but not inside where people are flippin' sleeping. It's not a sound proof house!" with that long speech she headed back up stairs. We heard the bedroom door slam.
I looked at Ryan.
He looked at me.
"Nice going, dingo." I snapped jumping off his back and sitting back on the sofa. I looked at the clock, ten-thirty.
"Zip it." He hissed walking into the kitchen.
