A nice quote if you love dogs like I do.
“A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water logged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?”
― John Grogan, Marley & Me
It's amazing what new knowledge or likes one can pick up from listening a while to the radio. This happened to me the other day when I discovered a new poet I really like, and a singer with the most beautiful, incredible voice I think I've ever heard. I heard her singing before, but I think she sings this particular song to perfection. Sadly, she died at the very young age of 33.
The poet is Thomas Gray (1716-1771) who wrote a famous poem called: 'An Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard'.
Here are 3 quotes of his:-
"Poetry is thoughts that breathe, and words that burn.”
― Thomas Gray, Selected Poems
"Full many a gem of purest ray serene
The dark unfathom'd caves of ocean bear:
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen,
And waste its sweetness on the desert air.”
― Thomas Gray, An Elegy Written In A Country Churchyard
“Yet, ah! why should they know their fate,
Since sorrow never comes too late,
And happiness too swiftly flies?
Thought would destroy their Paradise.
No more;—where ignorance is bliss,
'Tis folly to be wise.”
― Thomas Gray, The complete English poems of Thomas Gray
And finally, the singer and song is:- Eva Cassidy singing: "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain". (You Tube: stargazerlily 2520).
