I've been watching The Hunger Games for nearly 35 minutes. I'm only like... 1/4 through the movie. It's a good movie, but it's already gory and I don't get the flashback. Where Peter throws the burnt bread for the pigs, and his mom is all mad at him.
It makes me think a bit about Harry Potter Part 2. It was a bit mixed up, but I had read the parts already. So it wasn't much of a startle.

You really need to read the book to understand it properly, but Peeta burnt the bread, and has to feed it to the pigs. His mum comes out to scold him, then Peeta sees Katniss, out in the rain, who's father has died, and they have no way of getting food. Peeta throws her some bread, and she gets hope and then goes hunting for her family.
