Notes to Her

Hey,
Sorry if this seems strange,
But I just need to ask.

Did you feel like I went too far the other day?
Because if you did,
Then please say something,
And I'll change it,
I just want you to be happy,
I don't want to pressure you,
This is your ride,
You choose the pace.

How did I know?
Because it had to be the hottest room in the house,
But I could still feel you shaking,
It was strange,
Not what I expected,
I thought it would be me,
The leaf in the wind,
But on top of me you quivered,
Like a duck out of water,
Yet about to drown,
Trying to cover your body,
Shroud yourself in feathers.

And in the end I helped you,
Tried to mend your flightless wings,
In hope that they will soon be strong again.

And in a way it makes me sad,
It always does,
When a person so beautiful,
Becomes so insecure.

What made you that way?
Who nailed the coffin?
Closed the shell?
Because whoever they are they're wrong.

You shouldn't have anything to be afraid of,
I'm going to prove it to you,
Remove your fears layer by layer,
Garment by garment,
Like unwrapping a gift,

For that's what you are,
And how you should feel,
So let me help undress you,
'Til there are no clothes to peel.

But in your own time,
For a chick at great height,
Must wait for the moment,
When it takes it's first flight.
