Light In Darkness

We were having dinner outdoors. Music playing, people talking, everyone having a great time. Just then I lifted my head to look at the night sky. Why? I mean… who would look up to a black star-free sky? Everything changes us and the way we are and that moment changed me. Because that’s when I saw it. It’s not that I haven’t seen one before. Just… it was so beautiful in the moment. I left and I grabbed my scrapbook and my pen. It was a Chinese lantern floating up in the sky. Floating. Just one light in the overwhelming darkness. It amazed me. I truly do believe that in ever good there is a bad and a good in every bad. Like there is a darkness in every light and a light in every darkness. The red was burning, glowing even, beautifully. Almost as if to say “Look. I’m here and I’m alone. I am independent and I… I am not afraid, ashamed to br different. I am proud of being the light in the darkness.” It took my breath away. I found my inspiration in the least expected place. Maybe where you’ll find yours.

What may be inspirational to you may not be inspirational to others. But that’s O.K. Because everyone’s inspiration is their own treasure. Only they and maybe a few others around them will understand what it means to them…. or you… Be who you are. Don’t be afraid to be unique and different. Say what everyone thinks. Be loud. Be proud and keep your heads up!!

Because it wasn’t until then that I saw the red envious moon turn golden-yellow and rising through the sea that I felt true appreciation towards it. I was overwhelmed tonight.
