(The path is dark, only lit by a single streetlight far in the distance. Trees loom overhead. We see a girl, about fifteen. She's dressed it full black with a leather jacket and gloves and she is walking very, very fast. She reaches a battered cottage and rushes up to the door. She reaches for a key and jams it into the door, looking over her shoulder as she goes. Her black hair whips in a cool breeze as the door swings open. She races down a corridor until she reaches a room. She stops and hesitantly places a hand on the door. After a silent moment, she pushes it open. We hear a growl.)
'Hello old girl.'
(The scene changes into the TARDIS. The familiar whirring noise of the energy console sounds and a hand slams onto a lever.)
'The future, today, I think! Do you think? I think. We all think. But do you think we should go to the future?'
(The Doctor whips around, flicking various switches. Amy appears arm in arm with Rory, laughing.)
'We went to the future last time, Doctor, and I nearly died!'
(Amy pulls away from Rory and points a finger at the Doctor.)
'So yes, the future.'
'Lovely. 2087, I think.'
(The Doctor yanks down another lever and the TARDIS materialises.)
-Opening credits-
(We see the TARDIS appear exactly on the same path from the house. The Doctor steps out of the TARDIS, and pats the door. )
'Thank you dear.'
(The Doctor strides out, followed shortly by Amy and Rory. Amy sprints out, leaving Rory standing half in, half out of the TARDIS. He puts a hand up, then lowers it slowly.)
'I'll lock up then...'
(We see The Doctor and Amy at the door of the cottage, which is open.)
'Ooh, this is mysterious. I like a bit of mysterious. Almost as much as Jammy Dodgers.'
( The Doctor skips forward. Rory and Amy hurry to catch him up. We see the same corridor, with the door at the end wide open. The Doctor walks slowly forward.)
'Now what do we have here?'
(He whispers, staring at the door.)
'An open door.'
(Amy makes a sarcastic retort and The Doctor nods, still staring.)
'Yes, but listen to that.'
(Amy and Rory fall silent and listen. A noise, not heard before, makes Amy jump. It's a huff. It sounds almost like a dog.)
'Is that an... Animal?!'
(Rory whispers, and takes a step forward. The Doctor puts a hand up.)
'There's a human, too.'
