I walk along through dark and lonely streets
No one to guide me or hold my hand
No one follows or calls my name
Where I'm going nobody knows
Where I've been only footsteps remain.
I'm looking for something I know not what
A faith, a light, friendship or love
Reassurance that in the end
Come what may in night or day
I'll find my partner, lover, friend.
When times are hard as they often are
I think of those with less than me
I am lucky of that I know
I have ears to listen and eyes to see
My hands can hold food to eat
I can stand on my own two feet.
So if you find someone on their own
And they're wandering streets all alone
Be not afraid to call out to them
All they could be looking for
Is a long lost friend.
