6 December 2011

We are on holiday. In Glasgow. In December. How this happened no one can really say, but here we are in the lounge of my ever hospitable cousins while the snow that fell yesterday freezes to ice outside, solidifying our circumstance. Our plans to motor farther north to visit Aunty in Elgin have been frozen. The initial joy and wander and excitement of he snow flurries and subsequent snowman and snowball fights were quickly replaced with searches on weather and traffic websites, and an altered plan. These roads are not for our southern sensibilities, and we have instead made a fire in the hearth and settled into a slower paced holiday plan. Perhaps a visit to the riverside museum tomorrow, perhaps not. Today I discovered the natural response to this weather: hibernation. An afternoon snooze. This is a what I call a holiday. Never mind the highways through the highlands, our plans have changed for the better and we are doing nothing instead.
