Death By Apples

When I was young, my family used to visit my cousin’s house quite regularly. Every time we visited I used to hear stories about the house on the opposite side of the road to them and how it was haunted. It was a large two story house with an orchard & farm around it. The strange thing about this place was the single boarded up window visible when viewed from the main road. Legend has it the room was boarded up after the disabled son of the family was killed by a tragic accident! The family at that time used to pick apples from the orchard on the property to sell to retailers. These apples were kept inside the house at times in crates, in the very room which was boarded up. One day the son was playing on the stairs opposite the room and decided to investigate inside. Once there, several crates of apples fell on him causing an avalanche of apples to roll out of the room and down the stairs. The son died, and fuelled by grief the mother ordered the room to be boarded up and never used again…his ghost was often seen in the house wandering the halls and the sound of apples bouncing and rolling down the stairs can be heard on nights when his spirit is active. Nobody was allowed to mention the tragedy ever again, and only from the outside of the house would you know the room, or the son, ever existed!
