Her nails dug into my arm,"It belongs to you now. But so you know; it has taken many lives and isn't hesitant to take more!"
I nodded as she shoved me out the front door.
"Oh, my Eliza! You have grown to be strong, wise and beautiful. I have taught you for two years in the safety of the shadows. Now it's time for you to face the world and show it what you really are."
"Thank you, nan," I whispered close to tears.
"Shush child. Do me a favour and open the package."
Obediently, I tore the plain brown wrapping off, and ended up with a box; one of those you have engagement rings in. Inside it was a flower; it sparkled reminding me of a rainbow of colours, but more like petrol.
My nan smiled and gestured for me to hold it to her.
"This flower is powerful, and now it is time for my power to go into it too. It will be yours to use wisely."
She smiled as the flower began to glow.
"As one flower withers, another shall thrive," were her last words.
