It's when you realise you're nothing Vague, pointless, indistinct, grey and empty No better than the man arranging melons in a supermarket into neat rows, 4x4 No better than the ticket inspector patrolling off peak carriages, twiddling a biro No better than the garbage man luminous in the daybreak fondling dustbins in the mist No better than the GP grumbling anti smoking propaganda lining his pocket with your death and penicillin No better than the whore scraping worn heels on worn pavement in the neon light of a London suburb searching for a stoic fix No better than the gambler or the rapist or worse the banker seeking solace in their dirty, candid lies No better than the pig eating shit swallowing mouthful after mouthful Only ceasing to breathe

No better than nothing No better than anything

It's when you realise you are nothing the world crawls around you

And tells you that you're home
