3 June 2012
I strike a match.
The flickering amber light sighs
And breathes its last hiss of life.
There is a metronome of rain overhead.
A gift from the sodden leaves.
The steady rhythm is out of tune
With my sickly
Fluttering
heartbeat
As I wonder of you.
Of your boundless optimism
And your simple, uninhibited
Kindness.
You are sunshine
Over this rain.
I am only
The match.
