1 January 2013
Oh, it's that time of year again. In fact, it's that time of 2 years. The transition from New Years Eve to New Years Day - that tick of Big Ben to midnight - is one of the biggest celebrated cliches in the book. We all do it: wish everyone a happy new year. Why not? It's a very sociable and kind thing to do. I do it myself, thinking ahead however by posting the Facebook and Twitter messages a good 30 minutes before midnight to ensure I don't meet the annual social deadlock on the internet. History has taught us something though: every year we wish for much health, happiness, and wealth. Do we get it? Do we fuck! The reality is, we can take the "happy" out of the phrase, 'cause its just another year. Another year of things to worry about: what health problems will prevail; what money worries will show their ugly head; who will leave for a better place? That's the truth of the new year, not happiness.
