As a classical Pianist and Composer, there's one question which I'm asked more than any other when people hear my original material: "what inspired that?". I'm not one of these stereotypical classical composers who say "I was wondering through the park and I heard the birds singing, ect…" - my pieces are actually inspired by real life events. In all honesty, mostly tragedy. It's therefore appropriate that my answer to the question is always as follows: "nothing 'inspired' this piece. Something happened - something tragic - and my way of dealing with it was to go and let my emotions spill out over the ivories".
