I always knew I was different. I always dreamt about dying, right from when I was young. I could never envisage a future. I used to cry myself to sleep wondering how many days I had left! Then, one day, I was at school, in the lunch queue, and suddenly BANG. that's all I remember really. I woke up in hospital with a drip line inserted into my arm, it was then that I knew, bad news was going to hit me! My mum was at my side, grasping my hand quite firmly, she had obviously been crying as she was heavy eyed. She said softly "don't panic my baby" to me. As a tear streamed down my pale face, I said nervously to my mother, "what's going on?" She looked down and then back up at me again, "honey... You have a illness, a very serious one." My heart sank. "what is it?" I asked. "honey, you have a brain tumour. But it's okay, we're going to get you the best treatment, everything will be fine!!" Tears were now streaming down my face like there was no tomorrow.
