"Ohhh! Can I have this?" Kat asks, pulling a pink polka-dot suitcase off a shelf. She buckles under it's weight. "No!" I exclaim after checking the price tag. Me, Kat, and Summer are shopping for clothes and things we need in America at the airport. I always thought it was stupid how there were luggage stores in airports, but now I understand. "How about this?" I pull a small orange suitcase of a rack. Kat frowns. "Or this..." I pull a purple suitcase off a different rack. Kat smiles. Well, that's settled. I takea cream suitcase for myself and go find Summer. She's in the other side of the store, waiting in line to pay for her suitcase. I hand ours to her. Somehow, Summer managed to 'find' a ton of money at the airport. I didn't ask how. We pay and walk out, towing our empty luggage behind us. "Where now?" I ask, people bustling around us. "Clothing shop." We shop for a while, taking everything and even stuff we don't. Surprisingly, we have enough money for all of it. Summer doesn't even need to force our tickets; we have enough 'money' left over. "2:00 flight to Indianapolis, please report to gate 2B." the intercom crackles. We are going to this town called Indianapolis because it's the only flight to America tonight. Actually, this morning. It's 2 a.m. We walk to a little area with seats in rows. A screen is flashing '2B, Deliono to Indianapolis, Febuary 1, 2:00 a.m.' above the seats. Sumner sits down in a seat, so me and Kat do the same. Kat yawns. "Tired?" I ask. I napped in the car, so I'm pretty awake. "Yeah." Kat answers. "What's an airplane like?" "You have never been in an airplane?" I ask astonished. I've been in a plane too many times to count. "No. What's it like?" "Um... well, you see, it sort of feels like a roller coaster. You have been on one of those, haven't you?" Kat shakes her head. I sigh. I guess she has been living in the Alps for most of her life. "Okay then... I guess it's sort of like your stomach goes up, then down, but you don't feel like your moving fast at all." "Like a car!" "You could put it that way." Sumner smiles. Wait- Summer smiling? That's a first. "Gate 2B can now board the plane." the intercom crackles again. We walk over to the clerk and hand her our (probably illegal) tickets. She smiles and tells us to have a good day. Figures. Kat looks around in awe as we pass through the boarding hallway. "I thought there was seats!" she whines. "I wanna sit down!" I laugh. "This isn't the plane." "Oh." We walk onto the plane and Summer leads us to the middle. I've learned that sitting in the middle of a plane is the best place to sit. "Cool!" Kat slumps down in her chair. "I like it!" But she doesn't seem to like it when we take off. "I don't feel good!" she whines as we lift up higher and higher. "Your fine. It's supposed to be like that." I sooth. "Look at me." Summer turns around in the seat in front of us. Kat stares in Summer's eyes. That was dumb of her. "You feel okay. Okay? Good." Summer twists back around. "I feel better now." Kat smiles. Wow.
. . . . . .
I sleep the entire way to Indianapolis, which is pretty impressive since we fly over the entire ocean. I've had a rough month. "Please stay seated until you hear the ding." The captian says on the intercom. Ding! We walk out of the plane and wait for our luggage to come in on the carousel luggage thingy. Then we walk out into the bustling streets of Indianapolis. "Now what?" I ask. "Rent-a-car." So, we walk to the nearest rent-a-car place and, you guessed it, rented a car. Summer drives us out of the big city. It's daytime, since the flight was about 12 hours and there's a time difference here. "Where are we going?" I ask. "Yeah!" Kat agrees. "Here." Summer pulls into what looks like an abanded house. We were just in what seemed like a small town, so it might not be abanded. Even so, I still ask. "Is this abandoned?" "Yes." Summer answers, parking the car. "And we're going to be... living in it?" I ask again, a little freaked out. "Uh-huh." "But it's abandoned!" Summer laughs. "Exactly."
